Partick Thistle vs Dunfermline Predictions
- The first leg finished 1-1
- Partick’s have just one home defeat at home inside normal time this season
- Thistle are unbeaten in six against the Pars (W3, D3)
St Mirren await Thistle or Pars
Partick Thistle entertain Dunfermline Athletic in the Premiership play-offs on Friday with the tie in the balance after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
The winner will take on St Mirren in the final to battle for a place in Scotland’s top flight next season, and the Jags look the far more likely winners.
Partick have been exceptional at home this season as they navigated the Championship campaign without defeat at Firhill, winning 12 of their 18 games. Thistle only lost once inside normal time at home across all competitions – and that defeat came at the hands of Glasgow rivals Celtic way back in September.
Scottish cup finalists Dunfermline are on a five-game unbeaten run but their failure to secure a first leg lead could well prove costly. The Pars have a poor record against the Jags with three defeats and no wins in the last six meetings, with just one point to show from four games this season.
Partick won 2-0 when these sides met at this venue in April and a repeat of that scoreline is predicted, as Dunfermline have failed to score in three of the last four clashes between these sides. Alex Samuel may come into the Partick side after a decent display from the bench in the first leg and he looks a contender for a goal, having scored nine goals in 32 Championship games this season.
