Plymouth vs Newport County Predictions
Plymouth Argyle have all but tied up their automatic promotion spot in League Two now, sitting 12 points clear of 4th placed Luton with only 12 points left to play for, but they still have an outside chance of taking home the title if they can get back to winning ways for the last four games of the season.
They are currently six points adrift of leaders Doncaster Rovers, but they haven’t looked overly comfortable for quite some time now and that is reflected in their form. They have won five, drawn four, and lost four of their last 13 matches in League Two, with the latest being a 1-1 draw against fellow promotion hopefuls Portsmouth.
Whilst Plymouth are aiming to escape League Two, their opponents are doing everything they can to remain in the division. The visitors have looked resigned to relegation for much of this season, but the last couple of weeks have seen a turnaround in fortunes for Newport County.
They beat Yeovil 1-0 on Friday to make it three wins on the bounce for them, lifting them to within a point of safety and nine points clear of bottom of the table Leyton Orient. They have only lost two of their last eight games in the league, so I wouldn’t rule them out of this game.
Away from home Newport County have won three of their last four games, and they’re facing a Plymouth side who have lost five of their last eight at Home Park and have been relying on their away form so far this season.
Considering Plymouth’s recent home form and Newport County’s desperation for points, I think odds of 7/5 for a Newport County Win or Draw Double chance are excellent value, so that’s what I’m backing along with a 1-0 win for the visitors at 11/1 for my correct score predictions.
