Preston vs Bolton Predictions
Bolton’s problems are the more serious you feel and less expected given there was hope that Neil Lennon could inspire a much improved showing this term from the Trotters. 1 win in 13 league matches so far leaves them rooted to the bottom though and fans at the Macron might be bracing themselves for a relegation battle.
Things are a little bit more positive at Deepdale with Preston having only lost 1 of their last 5 games, 3 of which were away from home including an excellent 3-0 win at the Valley the weekend before last. They are showing the fighting spirit and just enough quality to suggest they are going to be good enough to stay in the division although they will be level on points with their opponents if they lose this one.
These two clubs have the joint worst goalscoring record in the league with just 10 goals scored so far. Preston have been strong defensively though conceding just 13 times, which is the best record of all the sides outside the top eight and they haven’t conceded in any of their last 3 matches although two have finished 0-0.
With both sides so poor in the final third, backing there to be under 2.5 goals in this match at 7/10 is surely the way to go here.
Preston are the more likely winners given their recent improvements but they’ve still only managed to win twice all season and frequently struggle to break sides down. Both sides will know the importance of the first goal in this game and that may lead to a cautious approach from both and it could well end in stalemate and a 3rd goalless draw for Preston in the space of 4 matches. You can back that to be the case at 15/2.
