Preston vs Bristol City Predictions
- Bristol City are unbeaten in seven games, including five on the road.
- Preston have lost their last four Championship home games, conceding 11 goals.
Value with in-form Robins for Championship return
After experiencing mixed FA Cup fortunes last weekend, Preston North End and Bristol City return to Championship action at Deepdale on Saturday. PNE were beaten 3-0 by Tottenham in what became a fifth home defeat in the last six outings while the Robins enjoyed a similar-margin fourth-round win over West Brom at Ashton Gate.
There’s little doubt which manager will be the happier right now, despite the difference in league placings, as City are unbeaten in their last seven games whereas North End are struggling to maintain any consistency.
The Lilywhites are the oddsmakers’ favourites for this contest, but the value lies with the visitors, who added two new attacking players last week after waving goodbye to Premier League-bound Antoine Semenyo.
Pearson’s depth in attack gives City the edge
Ryan Lowe could hand a debut to deadline-day addition Josh Onomah while Nigel Pearson could shake up his strikeforce with the addition of Anis Mehmeti and Harry Cornick.
The greater depth currently available to Pearson in attack gives City the edge in what should be a tight contest decided by the ability to take chances. They can be backed Draw no Bet at around Evens, which seems attractive since they have won two and drawn five of their last seven in total.
North End’s miserable home form could be set to continue with a 2-1 away win the preferred correct score play because Bristol City have only once conceded multiple times on the road in their last six outings.
