PSG vs Malmo Predictions
PSG start their Champions League campaign in Group A with a match-up against Swedish side Malmo on Tuesday night. The French champions are overwhelming favourites to qualify from the group alongside Real Madrid.
They’ve started the season with strong form in Ligue 1, winning four of their first five games and drawing this weekend’s clash with Bordeaux.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is fully expected to start on Tuesday night after being rested at the weekend. The Parisians are clearly making the Champions League a priority after reaching the quarter-finals last time around.
Malmo made somewhat surprising progress through the qualification stages. They were earmarked early on as a side that would probably end up in the Europa League, but they were able to overcome opponents in those most rounds, most notably (and recently) beating Scottish champions Celtic across two legs.
Malmo are currently sitting in fifth place in the Allsvenskan. They’ve only won four of their last 13 games in the division and are just in slight danger of slipping out of contention.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. PSG focus
They’ve improved in terms of consistency during the course of the recent resurgence in PSG football, but there’s still a feeling that this side loses its focus a little too often. We kind of suspect that Malmo have a chance to sneak up on them and at least avoid a blowout, which it perhaps should be purely based on paper.
2. Malmo can score
Celtic are not PSG, but they were surprised by Malmo’s pace and attacking ability. They can score goals, they aren’t stacked with impressive big name players, but they are happy with the ball and they can back it up with pace and skill.
3. Not a full on wide open style of game
While both of these teams are capable of scoring, we’re anticipating a little bit more of a cagey affair early on in group play.
