QPR vs Blackpool Predictions
- Blackpool have suffered four defeats in their last five league matches – their only win in that run came against Reading.
- The Tangerines won just five of their 23 away games last season, and have won just one of their last seven on the road.
- Queens Park Rangers are unbeaten in their last nine meetings with Blackpool.
R’s look to build on Wearside miracle
Queens Park Rangers may have only posted one win from their first three league games under Michael Beale, but Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Sunderland will certainly have felt like a victory. Having trailed 2-0 87 minutes in, the R’s snatched a valuable draw via an equaliser from goalkeeper Seny Dieng. QPR should thus approach their clash with Blackpool in confident mood, while the visitors have problems.
Indeed, Blackpool fell to defeat at home to Swansea City last time out, having suffered a penalty shoot-out loss to Barrow in the EFL Cup just days earlier. Michael Appleton’s men have managed one win this season – against relegation favourites Reading – and have a poor travelling record; the Tangerines have one win in their last seven road trips, having claimed just five wins from 23 away league matches last term.
QPR’s latest result will have provided a major boost, and comes off the back of an impressive 3-2 triumph over Middlesbrough. The R’s, who are unbeaten in their last nine league meetings with Blackpool, have won two of their last three games at home, and only Sunderland (six) have outscored them in the very early stages of this Championship season. They are deserved favourites for this contest.
QPR set for midweek win
Given Blackpool’s poor form, particularly on the road, we’re tipping an R’s side with a good historic record against the Tangerines to claim victory in west London.
However, the hosts have seen goals scored at both ends in each of their last three matches, so a 2-1 QPR win could represent a decent correct score prediction.
