QPR vs MK Dons Predictions
The Loftus Road club haven’t really lived up to their pre-season billing as promotion contenders so far, primarily due to a defence that has been woefully bad at times. However they did finally manage to get it right at the back in midweek, keeping a clean sheet at home to Sheffield Wednesday with veteran defender Clint Hill returning to the starting line-up and bringing a bit of order.
Rarely for them their usually fluid attacking play also deserted them in a 0-0 draw but the Londoners can probably take quite a few positives from the game even if it was a disappointing result and largely added to the sense of frustration among the Rangers faithful.
They will be without top scorer Charlie Austin, who has a hamstring injury again here but they should get some more joy against an MK Dons side that hasn’t been in good form.
The Dons came into this month on the back of 6 straight defeats as they fell rapidly down the table. A late point at Bristol City and a 3-0 win over 10 man Blackburn calmed some of the tension at Stadium MK but they sank to a 2-0 defeat at Huddersfield in midweek and they might struggle to cope with QPR here.
There were 2 divisions separating these sides last season and although it has been far from a dream start to life in the Championship for Rangers they still have some genuine quality players at this level at least, something that you can’t say about their opponents.
That class should prove decisive ultimately in this game and QPR look well worth backing at Evens for 3 points, which would lift some of the pressure on their manager.
They are not playing well enough to suggest they’ll win it comfortably though and two clean sheets in a row might be just a little too much to ask given QPR haven’t kept successive clean sheets in 20 months since way back in December 2013.
Therefore consider backing the hosts to win 2-1 at 15/2.
