Stoke City 1-0 @ 8/1

Reason For QPR vs Stoke City Predictions

  • QPR have failed to win their last 5 matches.
  • The hosts have failed to score in 3 games having lost their top scorer in January.
  • Stoke have won 3 of their last 5 games.
  • The hosts have conceded in 88% of their home league matches.

Stoke Need Response

Stoke were handed a 2-0 home defeat to Preston in midweek, a sure sign that there’s more work to do for Michael O’Neill moving forward. All season the Potters have had issues against the league’s top sides, with that result just adding to their tough campaign.

However, there’s certainly a chance for Stoke to bounce back this weekend. Saturday takes them to London to take on QPR. The hosts are sliding down the table after some tough results, but can they turn things around in time to defeat Stoke?

Rs in Trouble

The hosts have found themselves without a win in their last five, which comes after the blow of losing Nakhi Wells in January. The forward is QPR’s top scorer for the campaign with 13 strikes, while his presence earned him a step up to Bristol City. After his departure in January, the hosts are looking particularly light in attack.

QPR have failed to score in each of their last three matches, while they’ve scored just three in their last six games. It’s a huge turnaround from the side who kicked off 2020 with 11 goals in two wins over Cardiff and Swansea. Their attack has been torn up, which has left the Rs vulnerable.

Improving Stoke

The visitors have built up on their away record under their new boss, with half of their away wins this season coming in their last three trips. Victories at West Brom and Huddersfield have boosted the Potters going into this one, while they should have a chance of edging out a QPR side who struggle to get goals.

Stoke have managed to win three of their last five games, while they’ve only lost to Preston and Derby across their last seven. Going down to two sides who are near the top of the form table is no great shame, especially ahead of a clash with a team who seem to be at rock bottom. We think Stoke can get something here after starting to pick up away wins, so we’re backing the visitors Draw No Bet.

With QPR drawing blanks, we’re backing O’Neill to pull off the kind of victory his Northern Ireland side have managed in recent years. We see Stoke edging out the Rs with a 1-0 victory in this trip, having seen the hosts fail to keep a clean sheet in 88% of their home matches this term.
