      Valencia to Win

      Reason for tip

Valencia may have had a poor start to the season but former Mexico boss Javier Aguirre could be the man to turn things around and three of their last four wins have come on their travels. They look the value against a Racing Santander side who have conceded 21 goals in seven games.

      Valencia 2-1

      Reason for tip

Six of Racing Santander’s seven games this season have gone over 2.5 goals and considering their issues at the back, this looks likely to be a high-scoring affair as well. Take a 2-1 win for Valencia.

      Racing Santander vs Valencia Predictions

      • Racing Santander have shipped 21 goals in seven league games
      • Valencia are unbeaten in the last seven head-to-heads
      • Yassir Zabiri has six La Liga goals for the hosts this season

Valencia looking to get back on track

Valencia have had a disastrous start to the season, with manager Carlos Corberan departing after they took just one point from their first five La Liga matches.

Caretaker boss Oscar Sanchez guided them to a win and a defeat before former Mexico manager Javier Aguirre was given the job on a permanent basis. He faces Santander in this, his first game in charge of the club.

The hosts have had a mixed start to the new campaign, suffering some heavy defeats on the road but taking seven points from three home games to sit just outside of the relegation zone.

Leaky defence could be hosts’ undoing

There have to be some concerns about the hosts defensively however. They have conceded a league-high 21 goals, and it could be their issues at the back which is their undoing once more.

Aguirre has had the international break to impress his ideas upon this squad and they should improve markedly from their performances to start the campaign.

Three of their last four wins have come on the road and if they can’t turn around their goalscoring issues against this defence, it’s hard to see when they will manage that.

Take Valencia to win this one. Santander are seven games without a win against these opponents and could succumb to a 2-1 defeat.
