Rangers and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Servette have seen both teams score in all five games they’ve played this term, including home and away meetings with Genk in the last round. They should be able to continue their scoring record at Ibrox, but the Gers knocked out stronger sides in last season’s qualifiers and they should have too much quality for the Swiss outfit.

Rangers 2-1

Reason for tip

Rangers need to get out in front in this first leg and they should punish a Servette side who have conceded twice in two of their last three games. The Gers scored five times across two home games in last season’s qualifiers so with the visitors’ scoring record considered look to a 2-1 victory.

Rangers vs Servette Predictions

  • Servette have seen both teams score in all five games this term
  • The visitors have surprised in making it this far, edging out Genk on penalties
  • Rangers beat USG and PSV in last season’s qualifiers and should win at Ibrox

Gers hope to bounce back

Rangers got their 2023/24 season underway with a 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock, meaning they’ve already handed Celtic the advantage in the Premiership title race. However, the Gers arguably have other priorities this month, as they look for a Champions League windfall.

Returning to the group stages is huge for Rangers, even after they were comprehensively blown away in all six games last term. The financial reward would be massive for the Glasgow club and they have to navigate just two rounds to get there, starting with Wednesday’s meeting with Servette.

Servette to strike again

The Swiss visitors have surprised just making this far, having dumped out Genk on penalties in the last round. They drew 1-1 at home with the Belgian side before a 2-2 draw on the road. Servette have made a habit out of high-scoring games so far, with each of their five matches across all competitions this season seeing both teams score.

Servette head to Glasgow as rank outsiders and that looks fair, with Rangers claiming impressive wins over Union Saint Gilloise and PSV in qualifying a year ago. Their weekend loss shouldn’t factor into this too much, with the Gers likely to prove too strong. Back them to win, but Servette can maintain their good scoring record.
