Reading vs Fulham Predictions
This has the potential to be the game of the week in the Championship with both sides playing with confidence and scoring lots of goals. It certainly promises to be a good deal closer than the last meeting between these clubs only four weeks ago when Fulham cruised to a 5-0 win.
Since then Reading have won 3 of their 4 Championship games to cement themselves in 3rd place but they are going to have to keep their form going if they want to stay there with numerous sides below them, including Fulham, in good form too. They’ve been strong at home this season, winning 67% of their matches at the Madejski and they’ve netted 1.67 goals per game in those matches, only failing to score once.
Both teams have scored in 58% of their home matches though so they haven’t been impossible to break down and there have been over 2.5 goals in total in 58% of their home games, so the Madejski has seen its fair share of entertainment. Reading do have the worst overall defensive record in the top eight so free-scoring Fulham will fancy they can again cause them problems at the back.
The Londoners are unbeaten in 5 coming into this match and they’ve scored 15 goals in total in those games, including those 5 against Reading. That helps explain why they come here as slight favourites with the bookies, despite being the visiting team and lower down the league. There have been 2 or more goals in all of their last 9 games and 3 or more in 5 of the last 6. Both teams have scored in 57% of their matches this term, so like Reading they tend to be involved in games with goals at both ends and this has all the makings of another one.
One man who has been in fine goal-scoring form for Fulham has been Stefan Johansen. The midfielder has scored in 4 of his team’s last 5 games and given that, backing Johansen to score anytime at 10/3 looks a good shout here.
Overall this looks like it should be an open contest. No side in the Championship have picked up more points at home than Reading but only two teams have collected more on the road than Fulham. Therefore, confidence should be high in both camps and the stats certainly point to goals, so backing Over 2.5 & Both Teams to Score at 11/10 looks like a good bet.
