Atleti to Cement Title Credentials

Atletico Madrid can strengthen their title credentials this Saturday night when they face-off against cross-city adversaries Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu.

This is undeniably the biggest fixture of the weekend in La Liga and arguably the most important clash of the season so far.

While we’re only 12 rounds into the campaign, the title race already appears to be well and truly in Atletico Madrid’s control following their barnstorming start and a number of slip-ups from their key challengers.

Saturday’s opponents Real Madrid are already six points in arrears of Los Colchoneros, while champions Barcelona are a huge 12 points off the pace down in ninth.

Diego Simeone’s stars surely won’t have a better chance to lift their first La Liga crown since 2013/14, but they need to pass this weekend’s stern test to affirm their position at the head of affairs.

With eight wins and two draws from ten league starts so far, Atleti are difficult to oppose for this Saturday’s contest, despite not winning in their last five visits here.

Real have lost two of their four home games to date including a 1-2 defeat against Alaves last time out, so it’s difficult to make a case for Los Blancos at a touch of odds-against in terms of landing all three points.

This should be an absolute cracker after both sides also secured their passage to the Last 16 of the Champions League in midweek, and our recommendation is to back the visitors in the ‘Draw No Bet’ market, which will see stakes returned if the teams are level at 90 minutes.

It’s a game that’s likely to be high on intrigue but probably low on goals, with only three of Atleti’s ten league matches producing over 2.5 goals. With that in mind, we’ll take the league leaders to pinch a 0-1 success, which would put them in a tremendously strong position going into the Christmas period.
