Republic Of Ireland vs Netherlands Predictions
- The Netherlands overcame Greece 3-0 on Thursday.
- Ireland have three defeats in their last four games.
- The Dutch have lost just one of their last 14 games on foreign soil, against France.
Huge task for Irish
Ireland take on the Netherlands on Sunday knowing only a win in Dublin will do if they are to keep their hopes of reaching Euro 2024 alive.
With group leaders France already out of sight, the Oranje are the only team the Irish can catch and defeat on Sunday would almost certainly mean that Stephen Kenny’s men won’t be heading to Germany.
Netherlands can end Ireland’s hopes
Ireland are generally tough to beat at home, but they come into this game in poor form with three losses in their last four games. The Dutch claimed a comfortable 3-0 win over a Greece side who are usually tough to break down last time out, and they can back that up with three points in Dublin.
Ireland have to come forward and that should give the visitors chances on the counter. The Netherlands are a team who know how to make the most of opportunities on the break and they should be able to pick Ireland off on Sunday.
A 2-0 win for the visitors is the correct score prediction as when the Netherlands win they usually do so without conceding, with six of their last seven victories coming to nil.
After a difficult start to the season with Liverpool, Cody Gakpo grabbed a confidence boosting goal in that 3-0 win over Greece and the Dutchman looks a good contender for an anytime goal in Dublin.
