Republic of Ireland To Win To Nil

Republic of Ireland 2-0

Reason for tip

Armenia have conceded two or more goals in seven of their last nine games, shipping 14 times in their last four contests. Ireland have earned home results against Belgium, Portugal and Serbia in the last 18 months, and should have too much for their visitors.

Republic Of Ireland vs Armenia Predictions

  • Including friendlies, the Republic of Ireland have only lost one of their last eight home games.
  • Armenia have lost four consecutive matches, scoring one goal in that run.
  • Armenia’s last away win came in Liechtenstein in March 2021, they are winless in nine subsequent games on the road.

Boys in Green face survival battle

The Republic of Ireland must avoid a final-matchday loss to Armenia to stay in the second tier of the UEFA Nations League after collapsing to a 2-1 defeat in Scotland on Saturday, but Stephen Kenny’s men – despite a run of just one win in their last five outings – should have enough about them to see off Joaquin Caparros’ team, earning revenge for a shock 1-0 loss in June’s reverse fixture.

Ireland picked up four points against Group B1’s top two sides – Scotland and Ukraine – before their loss at Hampden Park. Kenny’s team have scored just five goals – conceding the same amount – in their five Nations League matches, but are defending a fine home record; Ireland have only lost one of their last eight games at home, against Ukraine in June. The likes of Belgium, Portugal and Serbia have failed to win in Ireland during that run, and Armenia will struggle to better them.

Indeed, Armenia have lost four consecutive games since shocking the Boys in Green earlier this year, failing to score in three and conceding a massive 14 goals. Caparros’ men also have a terrible record on the road, last winning on their travels in Liechtenstein 18 months ago. In their nine subsequent games, Armenia have failed to score six times, never hitting multiple goals in one match.

Ireland set to end with shutout

Given Ireland’s strong home form and, more importantly, Armenia’s inability to score on their travels, backing the hosts to win to nil appears to offer the most value for Tuesday’s game.

Meanwhile, Armenia have shipped two or more goals in seven of their last nine games, making a 2-0 Ireland win a decent correct score prediction.
