Greece in a rut

Romania can consider themselves somewhat unfortunate that they were unable to clinch a playoff place for the World Cup. They made the trip to Liechtenstein back in November in their final group game and needed to win. They did just that, winning 2-0, but it wasn’t enough as North Macedonia’s 3-1 win at Iceland saw Romania pipped for second in the standings. A win here could soften the blow somewhat and give them confidence moving forward.

Greece are another side to have missed out on a place for the 2022 World Cup as they finished in third place in Group B. Their fate was served prior to their final group match against Kosovo, a match that surmises this Greece side perfectly; once again they were unable to hold onto the lead. Greece opened the scoring in the first half but conceded a 76th-minute equaliser and it marked the third game in a row without a win for Greece.
