Rukh Brest vs Energetik-BGU Predictions
- Over 2.5 goals were scored in 12 of Energetik-BGU’s 15 away games last season
- Ruh Brest scored in 12 of their 14 league home matches in 2019
- Energetik have scored in nine of their last 10 league away games
Newly-promoted Ruh Brest pulled off a significant shock to beat Dinamo Minsk 1-0 in their first ever Belarusian Premier League match but they are unlikely to make it two from two when they host Energetik-BGU in what should be a high-scoring game at the Yunost Stadium.
Ruh, formerly the feeder club of neighbours Dinamo Brest, were available to back at juicy odds 7-1 against the Minsk giants and landed the upset when centre-half Oleksiy Kovtun headed home from a 26th-minute corner.
Dinamo piled on the pressure but Ruh, promoted from the second-tier First League via the relegation playoff last season, stood firm to earn a famous victory on their Premier League debut.
The hosts are being shown a lot more respect by bookmakers this week but opponents Energetik should also be brimming with confidence after they produced an upset of their own to beat 15-time Belarusian champions BATE Borisov in Minsk.
The Students equalled their best ever Premier League season to finish 12th last year but their 2019 campaign will mostly be remembered for the sheer volume of goals their matches featured. Games involving Energetik averaged 3.93 goals and away games were particularly high-scoring, featuring 4.4 goals on average.
Star striker Iyla Shkurin has left to join CSKA Moscow but Energetik picked up where they left off by scoring three times to down BATE with Uzbek midfielder Jasurbek Yaxshiboev bagging a brace.
Ruh were the second-highest scorers in the First League last season and look less likely to opt for the sort of backs-to-the-wall rearguard display that enabled them to see off Dinamo Minsk last weekend.
But the hosts were stronger away than at home last season, picking up 30 of their 56 points on the road, so marginal preference in the match betting is for Energetik. With the two teams hard to split, getting on goals could be the way to go.
