      Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Everything points to a cagey affair. Colchester are the league’s under-2.5 specialists, with 13 low-scoring matches already, and Salford have gone the same way in six of their last eight. Both teams are evenly matched and Colchester have become tough to beat, keeping four clean sheets in their last six. Don’t expect this to open up.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

A 1-1 draw makes the most sense. Colchester’s defensive shape has tightened significantly, while Salford still carry enough threat to notch at home. Five of the last six head-to-heads have seen both teams score, and neither side looks strong enough to pull away. A low-scoring stalemate fits the recent patterns perfectly.

      Salford City vs Colchester Predictions

Tight tussle expected between Salford and Colchester

Under 2.5 goals looks the best bet when Salford host Colchester in League Two at the Peninsula Stadium on Saturday. No side in the division has played more games with under 2.5 goals this season than Colchester, who have seen fewer than three goals in 13 games. Similarly, six of Salford’s last eight league games have ended with under 2.5 goals.

Salford are eighth in League Two, one place above Colchester, with just a point separating the two teams. Both have won more games than they’ve lost this season. Salford have nine wins and seven defeats, while Colchester have seven wins and five losses.

Salford beat Crawley 4-3 two weeks ago in their last League Two home game and have won the last two head-to-heads with Colchester. However, Colchester are hard to beat, having avoided defeat in eight of their last nine games.

Colchester’s three-game winning run ended with a 0-0 draw with Gillingham last weekend, in a game that kept up the recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals. Colchester were priced at 19/20 to win.

Colchester have kept four clean sheets in their last six League Two outings and, while they have conceded 21 goals this season, that is an average of just over one goal per game.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking a decent correct-score bet. Both teams have scored in five of the last six League Two meetings between these sides.
