Salford City vs Grimsby Town Predictions
Salford’s Home Strength to Silence Grimsby
Salford have won their last two home League Two games and they should be backed to beat Grimsby on Saturday.
Salford are fourth in League Two, one place and one point above Grimsby, with both teams having won more games than they’ve lost this season. Salford have six wins and three defeats from their ten games, while Grimsby have won five and lost two.
Salford have scored an average of 1.40 goals a game in their five League Two games against other top-half teams this season. In the seven games so far between teams in the top six, six have been home wins (86%), for a profit of 8.15 points to a one-point level stake.
Salford have won three of their last four League Two matches and have enjoyed success in four of their last six home games. They have lost just one of their last six at home in the league.
Salford will be expected to score here. They have found the net at least three times in three of their last four League Two games and have scored in 19 of their last 20 league matches, including a recent 3-2 win over Swindon.
It has been profitable backing Salford at odds-on this season, with a 3.58-unit profit and five wins from seven such games. They have won their last three League Two games as favourites.
Grimsby will be buzzing after their 7-1 demolition of Cheltenham last weekend, which followed a 3-0 loss to Barnet. They restricted Cheltenham to one shot on target and were 4/9 to win the game, making it two wins in the three matches in which they have been odds-on this season.
Their recent form in League Two has been up and down, with two wins, two draws and two defeats in their last six games. That run included a 7-1 win over Cheltenham, but also a demoralising 3-0 defeat by Barnet.
Grimsby have shown defensive frailties in recent games, failing to keep a clean sheet in nine of their last 11 League Two matches. They have conceded on each of their last three away trips, letting in an average of 1.80 goals per game this season.
Salford to get the 2-0 home win looks a decent option for correct-score bettors. At least one team was kept scoreless in three of the last four League Two meetings between this pair, and two of Salford’s six wins this season have been by a two-goal margin.
