Scotland can carry qualifying form into friendly

Scotland have been on fire in qualifying for Euro 2024 and they can carry that form into Tuesday’s friendly with England at what should be a lively Hampden Park.

In Group A of Euro 2024 qualification, Scotland have been the team to beat, winning all five of their games, scoring 12 goals in the process and conceding only once.

That run has left them above Spain and Norway in top spot in their section and spirits should be high in the Scotland camp ahead of Tuesday’s clash.

The encounter with England may only be a friendly but Steve Clarke’s side will likely view it as an opportunity to demonstrate the progress they have made.

Defensively they have looked sharp with their back three keeping out Cyprus on two occasions, Spain and Georgia since the start of the year, while three of their victories in 2023 have come on home soil.

Creativity lacking for England

They may not keep England out entirely but they are worth selecting in the draw no bet market, whereby stakes are returned in the event of a draw.

England started this international break with a rather underwhelming 1-1 draw with Ukraine on Saturday with Kyle Walker cancelling out Oleksandr Zinchenko’s opener.

The Three Lions are still very much on course for Euro 2024 qualification from Group C, having won their four qualifiers beforehand, but the performance did little to appease disgruntled England fans.

Gareth Southgate was criticised for his latest squad selection, opting for the likes of Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson, and England were sluggish against Ukraine, managing just four shots on target.

It was a moment of brilliance from Harry Kane which unlocked the door and allowed Walker to score but England need to offer more going forwards and could struggle to contain Scotland.

Scotland can make home advantage count

A fiery atmosphere is expected at Hampden Park and for goals could be on the cards, so Scotland to win this 2-1 could be a decent correct score prediction.

Clarke has transformed Scotland recently and key to their success as been Scott McTominay playing in a more advanced role.

As a result, McTominay has bagged six goals in Euro 2024 qualifying, including goals in their last two matches against Georgia and Cyprus, so back him to score at anytime in this friendly.
