Sheffield United to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Thursday’s first leg emphasised there is a gulf in class between these two teams and Sheffield United should once again have too much for Bristol City. However, the Blades do not need to go for the jugular, so they could settle for a low-scoring success.

      Sheffield United 2-0

      Reason for tip

Sheffield United have a recent memory of beating Bristol City 2-0 at Bramall Lane, last achieving the feat in November 2021, and given their strong defensive record on home soil, coupled with the Robins poor away form, this play-off semi-final second leg could easily finish in the same fashion.

Sheffield United vs Bristol City Predictions

      • Sheffield United won Thursday’s first leg 3-0 at Ashton Gate
      • The Blades finished 22 points better off than Bristol City in the regular season
      • Bristol City have won just one of their last 15 away fixtures

Blades to breeze through to Wembley

Sheffield United appear to already have one foot in the Championship play-off final after claiming a resounding 3-0 victory over Bristol City in Thursday’s first leg at Ashton Gate, and the Blades can hammer home their advantage back in familiar surroundings at Bramall Lane.

While United were helped by the sending off of City’s Rob Dickie during the first leg, there is still unquestionably a difference in quality between the two teams, emphasised by the 22-point gap between them in the final regular season standings.

Chris Wilder’s hosts took four points off the Robins during the regular season and have won six and lost none of the last eight meetings between the two sides, further emphasising why they should come out on top on Monday night.

      Robins poor on the road

Bristol City are already facing an almost insurmountable deficit in this second leg and their hopes are further undermined by a poor away record, as they have only won one of their last 15 road games and triumphed just four times on their travels in the Championship all season – the same amount as relegated Luton.

Liam Manning’s side have averaged just a goal-per-game away from home this season and they are unlikely to have the attacking tools to trouble a Blades defence that conceded just 17 times on their own patch during the regular campaign.

However, with such a healthy advantage, the hosts do not have to go for it and may instead settle for a low-scoring victory, matching the 2-0 scoreline they achieved when the two teams met at Bramall Lane back in November 2021.
