Slovan Bratislava vs Wolves Predictions
Slovan Bratislava, competing in their first Europa League group stage since 2014, came into Group K as the firm underdogs for qualification. The Slovakians have taken part in the group stages just twice in their history, and both times saw them finish dead last.
However, their position as underdogs has been revised after a stunning 4-2 win over Besiktas and a draw away to Sporting Braga earlier this month, and they head to the halfway point top of Group K after two matches.
Wolves will be keen to put an end to Slovan Bratislava’s unbeaten run though, and they know that a win on Thursday could send them clear at the top of the group depending on Sporting Braga’s result against Besiktas.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side looked the tentative favourites for the group after their perfect qualifying campaign, but a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Sporting Braga put them on the back foot. They did manage to beat Besiktas last time out and are on a good run of form right now, but the demands of juggling European football with the Premier League seem to have taken a toll on them.
That being said, Wolves are unbeaten in six competitive home games now. However, only six of their 15 competitive games since the start of the Premier League since have ended in victory, and away from home it’s three wins in six matches in this timeframe.
Slovan Bratislava may not be a household name, but their current form isn’t to be underestimated. They haven’t lost any of their last nine competitive matches, and on home soil their record gets even better. The hosts are unbeaten in their last 33 competitive home games; a record stretching back to April 2018. Their last Europa League home defeat came in 2017, and they have won each of their seven matches since then.
All this adds up to make a Slovan Bratislava Win or Draw Double Chance look excellent value for money, so we’re backing that. As far as the correct score prediction goes, backing a 1-1 draw seems a good option here considering Wolves have played out that scoreline five times in their last 13 competitive outings.
