Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Sporting’s clash with Gil Vicente could be low-scoring, with three of the visitors’ last four league games ending under 2.5 goals. Gil Vicente’s recent matches have generally lacked goals, and with past head-to-heads also tight, another cagey contest seems likely at Estadio Jose Alvalade.

Draw 0-0

Reason for tip

A 0-0 draw is a viable correct-score pick. Three of Gil Vicente’s eight draws this season have finished goalless, and at least one team has failed to score in three of the last four meetings between these sides. Sporting may dominate possession, but a stalemate isn’t out of the question.

Sporting Lisbon vs Gil Vicente Predictions

Sporting could lose ground

There might not be too many goals when Sporting host Gil Vicente at Estadio Jose Alvalade on Sunday. Three of Gil Vicente’s last four Primeira Liga matches have ended with under 2.5 goals and that trend could continue here.

Gil Vicente’s 1-0 win over Farense last weekend kept up their recent trend for matches with under 2.5 goals. Gil Vicente had lost four of their previous six Primeira Liga games before that victory.

Sporting have won seven of their last eight Primeira Liga matches and were 3-1 winners over Moreirense two weeks ago in their last home game. Gil Vicente are on a good run, having won their last two matches, but their recent results have been a mixed bag overall, with three wins and three defeats in their last six outings.

A goalless draw is a viable correct-score option. At least one of the sides has failed to score in three of the last four Primeira Liga head-to-heads and three of Gil Vicente’s eight draws this season have ended without a goal.

Sporting, who lead the Portuguese standings, are a really short price to beat the visitors, but this could be closer than the odds suggest with the hosts potentially in for a nervy 90 minutes.
