St Pauli vs Dynamo Dresden Predictions

  • Dresden are one of only two 2. Bundesliga teams to be without an away win this season.
  • Having conceded 22 goals, Dresden have the worst away defensive record in the division.
  • Dresden are currently 2. Bundesliga’s lowest scoring away team. They’ve scored just seven travelling goals.

Struggling St. Pauli

Back-to-back wins around the turn of year looked as though they may spark improvement from St. Pauli, but Friday’s hosts have since regressed. They’re now without a win in three, two of which they’ve lost. However, two of those matches have been away from the comforts of Millerntor-Stadion, which is where St. Pauli have been at their best this term.

For all they are struggling, as they hover just above the drop-zone, St. Pauli are no mugs at home. Jos Luhukay’s men have lost just one of their last six home matches, as well as just two of their last ten.

Scorers of 17 goals, St. Pauli are reasonable in the final third, while they’re quite useful at the back, conceding 11 in 11, conceding more than once on just two occasions and in none of their last five.

Dreadful Dresden

It’s been a terrible season for Dresden, who wouldn’t have come into the campaign envisaging a scrap for survival. At present, they’re losing their fight to stay in the division, as they’re bottom of the pile, five points from safety.

Ahead of this match, the away form of Dresden is a big worry, and it is in fact their away form that is the driving force behind their struggles. Friday’s visitors have won none of their ten away matches, seven of which they’ve lost. They’ve not offered enough going forward, as a total of seven goals for suggests, while they’ve simply not been at the races at the back. Dresden have surrendered an average of 2.2 goals on the road.

Even when playing against teams that aren’t doing so well, Dresden have failed to impress. They’ve won none of their five away matches against bottom-half teams, three of which they’ve lost, though each of their two travelling clean sheets came against teams of that ilk.

Home goals on the cards

St. Pauli are far from a thriving team, but they’ve not done badly at home of late, while a match against ultra-strugglers Dresden provides the hosts with an excellent opportunity to enjoy themselves, especially in the final third. Punters can make this one pay by siding with ‘St. Pauli to Score Over 1.5 Goals’. The hosts have scored seven in their last three at home, while they recently came into their own, scoring three goals, against Wehen, who like Dresden are in the bottom three. They’ve also scored two or more on six occasions at home this season, while the visitors have shipped multiple goals in four of their last five, as well as in eight out of ten.
