Stenhousemuir welcome Premiership opponents St Mirren to Ochilview Park on Tuesday in a pivotal League Cup Group H fixture.

The hosts have three points from their opening two games, having followed last week’s 2-1 win at Dumbarton with a defeat by the same scoreline at home to Partick Thistle on Saturday.

Stenny were solid in the middle of the park, according to reports, but had trouble stopping the visitors down the flanks as the Championship side came from a goal down to record a crucial win.

That defeat was their tenth in the last dozen League Cup home games they have played and it’s hard to envision the Buddies not having too much for them on Tuesday.

Any victory over the high-flying Pars looks good on paper right now as Dunfermline have stormed to 4-2 and 5-1 wins over Partick and Dumbarton in this group.

So we’re very positive about St Mirren returning to Paisley with the three points that would almost guarantee them a place in the next round.

The Buddies finished last season with a decent away record of four wins, four draws and two defeats in their last ten and averaged 1.9 goals per game during that spell.

So we’re predicting a 3-0 win for them on Tuesday and taking St Mirren to win and Over 2.5 goals as the main play.
