Tip Reasoning

  • Derby have failed to score in half of their away games this season, netting just 13 in total on their travels.
  • 27 of the visitors’ 37 league games this term have produced under 2.5 goals.
  • The Rams are without a win in six (D3, L3) while Stoke have won just one of their last six starts, losing four.

Dull clash in prospect at the bet365

December’s reverse clash between these sides at Pride Park (0-0) offered little by the way of entertainment and we’re expecting more of the same at the bet365 Stadium this Saturday.

Stoke grabbed themselves a decent point at Cardiff in midweek (0-0) but the Potters are almost at the point of going through the motions now. With nine matches of the campaign left to play, Michael O’Neill’s men are 11th and there’s zero chance of them reaching the Play-Offs or being dragged into any kind of trouble at the wrong end of the table.

Motivation in the Stoke camp will be understandably low and that’s told in recent results, with the Potters winning just one and losing four of their last six.

The hosts should anticipate a tenacious effort from Derby this Saturday after the Rams fought back to draw with Brentford in midweek, though another point here for the Rams would undoubtedly be a good result. They’re eight points clear of the bottom three and probably safe, however, boss Wayne Rooney will want to eek out a couple more positive results to make absolutely sure.

The visitors are similarly in poor form with three draws and three defeats registered in their last six, so we think a draw is the most likely result in Staffordshire and we’re forecasting a second 0-0 between the teams this term.

However, our main wager centres around the goal markets and under 2.5 rates a solid if unspectacular wager. All but 10 of Derby’s 37 games this season have generated under 2.5, while the Rams have also failed to strike in half of their 18 matches on the road.

With little goalmouth action on the cards between two of the divisions lowest scoring clubs, we can only envisage a dull 90 at the bet365 and punters are advised to back accordingly.
