Sheffield United to Win

Reason for tip

Sheffield United are setting the pace in the Championship with just one defeat across the opening eight rounds (W5, D2, L1) and they look capable of defeating this below average Swansea outfit, who have won just two of the opening eight league games.

Sheffield United 2-0

Reason for tip

Sheffield united scored at least twice in five of their last six matches while they kept clean sheets in each of their last three victories, so they could put on a similarly dominant display against Swansea.

Swansea City vs Sheffield United Predictions

  • Swansea won just two of their opening eight league games.
  • Sheffield United won without reply and by 2+ goals in three of their last four games.
  • Four of Swansea’s last six Championship games ended with under 2.5 goals.

The Swans could have their wings clipped

With no English football over the weekend due to the sad passing of the Queen, Swansea have inadvertently had some extra time to recover after boss Russell Martin bemoaned his side’s tired legs in recent weeks.

Even with some extra rest & relaxation, Swansea look up against it here against the league leaders Sheffield United. The Swans failed to win six of their opening eight league games and have already lost twice at home, arguably to much lesser opposition than they face tonight.

Even so, Swansea’s games haven’t always been the most entertaining for the neutral, with four of the last six resulting with under 2.5 total goals. A repeat of that may see them keep the Blades contained for periods and ultimately not allow the scoreline to get out of control.

The Blades look sharp

Since losing to Watford on the opening day, Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United have enjoyed an almighty seven-game unbeaten run of league games (W5, D2) and while the hosts may have needed a rest, the visitors will hope the mini break won’t knock them off their stride.

We predict that the Blades will simply have too much for Swansea to deal with and should win at a fair price. As for the correct score, we’re sticking with a small stakes selection on a 2-0 away win, in keeping with Swansea’s often low-scoring encounters.
