High spirits in Canada

Toronto will be hoping they can feed off the buzz of the nation after Canada sealed their place at the World Cup. The hosts are coming off the back of a 2-1 home victory against DC United and, as Brendan Rodgers would say, they showed great character. Going a goal down in the opening 10 minutes is never ideal but Bob Bradley’s side fought for every ball and showed real intent, resulting in them coming out of that one as deserving winners. They’ll want to start this one in a similar vein and will feel confident about getting on the scoresheet against the current Champions.

New York City had a packed schedule in March and never had more than four days of rest between fixtures during that month. So it’s hardly surprising that Ronny Deila’s side have failed to keep a clean sheet across their last four games in all competitions. April doesn’t look as though it will be any kinder as the sky blues return to MLS action and are also competing in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League. Considering the number of games they’re playing right now, fatigue will play a huge factor in their upcoming games.

Toronto fans will be elated that their nation will be represented at the World Cup and they’ll want the celebrations to continue at full time here. We’re expecting the hosts to fly out of the blocks for this one and put in a similar performance to the DC United game and get on the scoresheet. We think the visitors will also find a way of silencing the home crowd and so we’re leaning towards both teams scoring in an entertaining draw.
