Tottenham Hotspur vs Luton Predictions
- Tottenham have won seven of their last nine at home in all competitions
- Luton’s last win came at the end of January
- At least five goals have been scored in three of Luton’s last four on the road
Spurs can have field day against hapless Hatters
Tottenham have been a thoroughly entertaining outfit to watch this season and they could offer up a gluttony of goals and excitement when they host relegation-threatened Luton on Saturday, with the Hatters also being a joy to watch on the road in recent weeks.
A 3-0 defeat at London rivals Fulham before the international break was only the second time that Spurs had failed to score under Ange Postocoglou, while only games involving Newcastle, Aston Villa and their weekend opponents Luton have featured more goals in the league this season.
Two of the current top 15 goalscorers in the league currently play for Tottenham – captain Heung-Min Son and Richarlison – and given Luton’s recent defensive porosity, if they feature, the two could have a lot of joy on Saturday.
The Hatters have conceded at lease four goals in three of their last four away fixtures, including a 4-3 defeat at Bournemouth in which Rob Edwards’ men squandered a three goal half-time lead.
However, although Tottenham should feel confident in taking all three points in this encounter, Luton are as much of a danger going forward as they are shaky at the back. They put four past Newcastle in a 4-4 draw last month, while they also bagged braces against fourth placed Aston Villa in the league and against Manchester City in the FA Cup – although they did end up on the losing side.
Maddison to provide creative spark
With Luton unable to plug the leaks at the back, Spurs midfielder James Maddison could be on course to increase his goal contribution numbers and he may even find himself on the scoresheet.
The Englishman assisted two of Tottenham’s four goals against Aston Villa recently and currently has four goals to his name in the league this season.
In what looks to be a goalfest in North London, Maddison will be sure to try his luck to increase this tally and could be an outside bet to grab a goal. Given that Luton have conceded four in three recent away games and have scored nine across their last four on their travels, a 4-2 win for Tottenham catches the eye.
