Toulouse vs Dijon Predictions

Toulouse have been flirting with relegation for the past 2 seasons, finishing in the relegation play-off spot (18th) in 2017-18, but winning in the play-off, before finishing in 16th place last season on 38 points, 4 clear of 18th place Dijon, who are their opponents in this fixture. Toulouse had the 4th worst home form in the entire league last season, picking up just 4 wins from 19 home games, drawing 9 and losing 6. Their games averaged just 2.42 goals, with Under 2.5 goals landing in 53% (20) of their games and 58% (11) of their home games.

In their 5 pre-season games, Toulouse scored just 5 goals, with 3 of those coming in one game against Qatari side Al Arabi in a 3-2 win. Aside than that, they drew 0-0 with Beziers, won 1-0 against Ajaccio, lost 3-1 to Strasbourg and lost 1-0 to Norwich City. Toulouse started off the new season with a 1-1 draw away at newly promoted Brest, which is not the worst result they could have hoped for, but it certainly was a winnable game for them.

Dijon had an even worse campaign last season, as they finished in 18th place in the relegation play-off. Fortunately for the Ligue 1 side, they beat Lens 4-2 on aggregate in the play-off to retain their top-flight status for at least one more year.

Dijon’s away form last season was nothing short of abysmal, as they won just 3 games, drawing 3 and losing 13, accruing a pathetic 12 points, 1 point more than the lowest in the league, Guingamp, who picked up 11 away points as they finished rock bottom of the league. Dijon failed to score in 10 of their final 11 games away from home in the league last season. The only game they did score in on the road in that time, was in a 3-1 win away at high-flying Lyon, in what was a huge shock result. In total, Dijon scored in just 5 of their 19 away league games.

Under 2.5 goals landed in 53% of Dijon’s away league games last season, however Dijon didn’t exactly do much to contribute to the games that did see 3 or more goals, instead being on the receiving end of many of those goals. Toulouse are very unlikely to have the firepower to put even 2 past Dijon in this game.

We don’t see any other likely scenario other than a boring low-scoring game in this one, and as such we are going for Under 2.5 goals as our main bet. We think Toulouse may just edge the victory though, so we’re going for a 1-0 Toulouse Correct Score bet.
