Toulouse vs Metz Predictions
- Toulouse have scored in just one of their last eight matches.
- Metz have picked up 17 of their last possible 27 points, making them one of the most in-form teams in Ligue 1.
- The visitors have lost just one of their last eight away games.
Toulouse Staring Down The Barrel Of The Gun
Every week it gets more painful to detail to demise of Toulouse FC. Every week their fans enter the Stadium Municipal with a semblance of hope but they exit with it dashed. That was the case once again last time out as les Violets lost their 21st game of the season, almost confirming their relegation.
They are still not mathematically consigned to Ligue 2 but mentally, the fans, players and owners have already began preparing themselves for the second tier. They are currently 14 points away from safety in 20th place and would need a miracle to stay up.
The Pink City club have conceded 19 goals in their nine league games of 2020, just the one draw against 19th place Amiens breaking up this flood of defeats, and have failed to score in seven of these matches. They did show a bit more fight last week as they gave fellow relegation battlers Dijon a good game in their 2-1 loss but once again it wasn’t enough to take anything home. Toulouse have lost 10 of their 13 home games this season so it will take a mammoth effort if they want to get three points here.
Metz Looking To Pile On The Misery
Toulouse have been having an awful season but Metz won’t care as they themselves also have concerns regarding their place in Ligue 1. Les Grenats currently sit 15th but have put in some great performances recently to put seven points between themselves and the relegation zone.
They’ve won five of their last nine games with just two defeats in this time making it a fantastic run for the club. Three of these victories have come against direct relegation rivals in Nîmes, Amiens and Saint-Étienne so they cope well under pressure. They have taken 17 of their last possible 27 points which makes them one of the most in-form teams in the league and that momentum could be pivotal for their survival this season.
The Hosts To Lose Again?
Metz have lost just one of their last eight away games in the league and that should be enough to see them over the line here. The visitors have been in solid form with ten goals scored in their last nine matches and with a solid record over teams in and around them, they will be confident ahead of this match. Toulouse scored last week but they was their first goal in eight matches and with Metz keeping three clean sheets in their last four away games, we’re backing les Grenats to win 1-0.
