Tranmere vs Shrewsbury Predictions
Saturday’s League One action sees Tranmere Rovers doing battle with Shrewsbury Town at Prenton Park. Neither side arrives in great shape but the hosts will be confident in securing a positive result.
After securing back to back promotions to the third tier, Tranmere came into the campaign with plenty of momentum behind them. However, no doubt not helped by having lost key figure James Norwood to Ipswich, the side haven’t made a particularly strong start to the season and come into this game stationed in 20th place, having collected just 9 points from 10 games.
Early signs would certainly suggest that Tranmere will have to battle to retain their League One status but there’s one thing that can leave the side fairly confident of doing so and that’s their home form. Indeed, the hosts are unbeaten in 4 home league matches and the fact 8 of their 9 points this season have been collected on home soil has their prospects looking fairly bright coming into Saturday’s game.
Meanwhile, Shrewsbury have made a fairly mediocre start to the season and currently find themselves around about the area they’re expected to finish in. The Shrews aren’t expected to be part of the promotion or relegation shake-up come May and said forecasts don’t look like being too far off, with the team currently in 12th with 13 points from 10 games.
Having won just 1 of their last 6 league games, Shrewsbury don’t make this trip to the North West with much momentum behind them and a degree of pressure is beginning to mount. Having won just 1 of their last 5 away league games, it’s hard to see things picking up for the visitors on Saturday, especially when considering they’ve failed to even as much as score in 3 of said fixtures.
Ultimately, neither side have turned many heads with the respective starts they’ve made but you do have to fancy Tranmere more than Shrewsbury when analysing this weekend’s match. For all their struggles, Tranmere do appear a fairly solid outfit at Prenton Park and that could well give them the edge over a Shrewsbury side that is far from powerful on the road.
As such, backing Tranmere on the Draw No Bet line looks a sensible way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re more than happy to do. At worst, the hosts should be able to avoid losing the game but we fancy them to grind out a gritty 1-0 victory.
