USA vs Costa Rica Predictions
USA suffered a disappointing weekend defeat in the CONCACAF Cup and they make several changes to that squad giving opportunities to a number of MLS players, who are effectively auditioning for bigger roles when qualifying for the World Cup starts in November.
It’ll be especially interesting to see whether youngsters like DeAndre Yedlin and Bobby Wood earn starting spots. There’s a definite feel of a guard change for the USA right now, though they will be favourites to reach the 2018 World Cup finals.
After performing so well in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Costa Rica haven’t been very impressive in 2015, winning just one game, drawing six and losing five. Of course, there hasn’t been too much competitive action mixed in with that. Even so, a 1-0 home defeat to South Africa on Thursday represented a significant blow and it snapped a 14-game unbeaten run on their own field.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. USA youth
USA are playing a lot of young players and have changed their squad a lot, that can work for or against you, but in this case we’re not convinced that the XI that takes the field on Tuesday will be that well-equipped.
2. Costa Rica athleticism
It’s difficult to reflect positively on Costa Rica at the moment, but there’s some rivalry between these two teams from previous qualifying match-ups. We just think that this game will bring out the “best” in Costa Rica right now and they’ll hold out for some sort of result.
3. World Cup qualifying close
With World Cup qualifying so close, it’s hard to see either team taking this with too much seriousness. In that circumstance, we like the near even double odds.
