Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Rayo Vallecano have only conceded more than once in one of their seven La Liga road trips this season. They have shipped exactly one goal in their last three and if this one finishes level it is most likely to be a 1-1 draw.

Valencia vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions

  • Valencia have drawn two of their last five home La Liga matches
  • Five out of the last six meetings of these clubs at the Mestalla have finished all square
  • Rayo Vallecano have drawn two out of their last six away league games

Baraja’s boys are in a relegation battle

The pressure will be on second-bottom Valencia when Ruben Baraja’s side play host to mid-table Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Saturday.

Los Ches, who finished ninth in the table last season, have become embroiled in a relegation battle and look like they will rely on home results to stay up.

Valencia have won two, drawn two and lost two of their first six league games at Estadio Mestalla, but they have struggled to beat visiting Rayo Vallecano there for the past few years.

Vallecano can keep it close on the road

Five out of the last six meetings of these clubs at the Mestalla have finished all square and it would be no surprise to see Inigo Perez’s side claim a point on Saturday. Vallecano have avoided defeat in four of their seven away league trips and those three defeats were all by narrow one-goal margins.

The draw looks a good play in the circumstances. Valencia rested some key players in midweek when they beat fourth-tier Ejea in the cup, but several other stars are currently out injured.

Vallecano will travel east on the back of a cup win of their own and don’t concede many goals on their travels.
