Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

There have been fewer than three goals in four of Valencia’s last five games, a run which has seen them score just one goal. Real Sociedad meanwhile have conceded just ten times on the road in 11 La Liga outings, with six of their last seven fixtures at all venues containing under three goals

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Valencia have only kept one clean sheet in their last seven home games, conceding and scoring exactly once on two occasions each. Real Sociedad meanwhile drew 1-1 with Celta Vigo in their last game, one of three occasions in their last six fixtures they have conceded exactly once

Valencia vs Real Sociedad Predictions

  • Four of Valencia’s last five games have contained fewer than three goals
  • There have been under three strikes in six of Real Sociedad’s last seven fixtures
  • Valencia have failed to score in four of their last five outings

Can Valencia end dreadful run?

The sacking of Gennaro Gattuso appears to have done little to lift Valencia’s form, as they have now lost six successive games for the first time this century.

Rubén Baraja has now taken the reigns and he suffered a 1-0 defeat at Getafe in his first game in charge, the fourth time in five matches that Los Che have failed to score.

Each of those four fixtures have contained fewer than three goals, which outlines the fine margins Valencia are dealing with after dropping into the La Liga relegation zone.

Real Sociedad out of form as well

Real Sociedad are not enjoying the best run of form themselves, with last week’s 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo meaning they have won just one of their last five games, failing to score in three of those outings.

Like Valencia, their games are pretty tight, with just one of their last seven fixtures containing in excess of two goals.

Imanol Alguacil’s side are strong defensively though, conceding just ten times in 11 away matches, keeping three clean sheets in the last four.

Neither of these teams are in any kind of form, so I predict that there will be fewer than three goals across the game, selecting 1-1 as a correct score prediction.
