Hosts looking to maintain table-topping pace

A return of 20 points from their first nine games of the Norwegian Eliteserien campaign has put Viking joint-top of the table, although fellow pace-setters Lillestrom have played one game fewer and are unbeaten. However, Viking – who came third last year – have gone six games without defeat ahead of hosting HamKam, and will be confident of maintaining their excellent run.

Indeed, the hosts have won four of their last six, hitting five goals past Haugesund, four against Molde, and three in a routine win over Jerv, demonstrating their attacking quality. Forward Verton Berisha is the division’s top-scorer with six goals this term, but Viking have, at times, leaked goals at the opposite end, seeing both teams net on three of their last five outings.

Newly-promoted HamKam could compete after a five-match unbeaten run of their own, although the most recent four of those games have all ended level. They’ve also seen goals at both ends in three of their last five games, and have already earned creditable draws against Lillestrom, Valerenga, and Rosenborg, three of last year’s top seven.

Viking can battle to entertaining win

Given the hosts’ excellent start to the season, as well as the fact their visitors are yet to win on the road this term, backing them to maintain the excellent pace they’ve set in the early weeks of the season looks a good play.
