Villarreal vs Napoli Betting Tips and Predictions

Both teams are enjoying excellent domestic seasons. Napoli are challenging for the Serie A title and currently trail Juventus by a single point at the top after suffering a 1-0 defeat in Turin on Saturday. They’d won their previous 8 league games though so certainly come into this game with plenty of confidence and are slight favourites to win it on the night.

That doesn’t really do service to what a good side Villarreal are though especially at El Madrigal. They are 4th in La Liga, 8 points clear of 5th placed Sevilla and looking very good for a place in next season’s Champions League. They are unbeaten in 11 matches in La Liga and made a comfortable progression from their Europa League group.

They won all their home group games and have won 15 of their last 17 home Europa League matches with their only defeat coming against eventual winners Sevilla last season.

Villarreal are though more efficient than exciting and they have been struggling for goals of late although remain strong at the back. There have been 2 or fewer goals in all of their last 8 home games and they’ve only conceded once in that period. Therefore you have to think odds of 8/11 for there to be under 2.5 goals looks good here in what could be a fairly cagey 1st leg.

Napoli may have won all their group games and scored an avalanche of goals but it wasn’t a tough group by any means and this will be a much bigger test. They are though a very strong side and even though Villarreal have already beaten the likes of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid at home this year, they are capable of getting a draw from the game which would be a good result to take back to Naples.

Therefore consider backing this to finish 1-1 at 5/1.
