Watford vs Birmingham Predictions

The best bet is a home win when Watford take on Birmingham at Vicarage Road in the Championship on Thursday. The visitors have lost their last three away games and could be heading for another loss here.

Watford are nine places above Birmingham in the table, with the two sides separated by seven points. The hosts are sixth, having won ten, drawn eight and lost six, while Birmingham sit in 15th with eight wins, seven draws and nine defeats.

Watford’s current form makes for encouraging reading. They have won four of their last six Championship matches and are going for a fourth successive win. They have gone nine home games unbeaten in the league.

The hosts have kept out Birmingham in six of their last eight Championship head-to-heads.

The home attack is in form – Watford have scored in 14 consecutive games, a run that includes a 3-2 win over Norwich in December. They have found the net in 17 of their last 18 league matches.

Backing Birmingham when they have been underdogs this season would have resulted in a 4.25-unit loss, with just one win from their six games as an underdog.

The visitors are out of form. Birmingham have not won in six Championship games and have failed to win any of their last nine away games. They have only won one of their last eight matches overall.

The visitors’ struggles in front of goal are a major concern. Birmingham have found it hard to score away from home this season, with just eight goals in 12 Championship games – an average of 0.67 goals a game on the road.

The visitors have looked vulnerable in defence, with Birmingham failing to keep their opponents at bay in ten straight Championship games. They have conceded 20 goals away from home this season, an average of 1.67 goals per game from 12 matches.

A 2-0 home win for Watford looks the best correct-score bet. At least one of the teams did not score in six of the last eight Championship meetings between these sides, and a clean sheet for Watford is on the cards.
