Watford Over 1.5 Team Goals

Reason for tip

Watford have impressed in their two games at Vicarage Road this term and they can put away a couple of chances against a Blackburn side who look poor at the back. The visitors have conceded at least twice in their last three games and the Hornets should put them to the sword.

Watford 2-1

Reason for tip

Blackburn have seen both teams score in all four games this term and Watford have a habit of conceding chances. Rovers have a quick frontline who paly a lot more direct than the rest of the side and they can pounce on the counter and get a goal, but the hosts should edge this game and take the points.

Watford vs Blackburn Rovers Predictions

  • Blackburn have conceded at least twice in their last three games
  • Watford have been dominant in both of their home games this term
  • Bayo leads the Hornets in xG and has scored in two of their first four games

Clash should suit Hornets

Watford have made a mixed start to the campaign, beating QPR 4-0 in their opener before draws with Stevenage and Plymouth. The Hornets lost 1-0 at Stoke last weekend, which took the shine off their opening-day success.

However, Watford have dominated both of their home games so far and they deserved three points from their draw with Plymouth. The fact that they meet a Blackburn side who tend to sit back should suit the hosts, who claimed 11 of their 16 victories last term at Vicarage Road.

Bayo can sink Blackburn

Blackburn opened with a win over West Brom, but they were second-best for much of that game. They followed it up with a 2-2 draw at Rotherham and then a 2-1 home defeat to Hull City. It seems Rovers are starting to be found out and defensively they look vulnerable.

Including their 4-3 win over Walsall in the cup, Rovers have now conceded at least twice in each of their last three. Watford put QPR to the sword in their opener and then created plenty of chances at home to Plymouth. They should create plenty of openings against a vulnerable Blackburn defence, so back the hosts to score a couple of goals.

Watford’s attacking hopes will be largely pinned on Vakoun Bayo, who scored against both QPR and Stevenage. He leads the Hornets in Expected Goals for the campaign and he should get plenty of chances to build on a strong start to the campaign.
