We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Werder Bremen 2-1 @ 9/1

Reason For Werder Bremen vs Cologne Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in all but one of both sides’ six league matches this season.
  • The host’s have lost just one of their opening half dozen games this term (W2, D3, L1), while Cologne are still searching for their first victory (D2, L4).
  • Werder are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Cologne (W3, D2).

Goals at Both Ends in Bremen

The Matchday 7 action in Bundesliga kicks off at Weserstadion on Friday night, with host’s Werder Bremen fancied to edge out Cologne in a closely run affair.

After barely beating the drop last term, one defeat in six (W2, D3, L1) represents a solid start to the new campaign for ninth-placed Bremen, who appear to have made the right decision in sticking with boss Florian Kohfeldt.

Die Werderaner have won their last three league encounters at home to Cologne and they’ll be confident of extending that sequence here based on their encouraging performances of late and the fact their opponents are still searching for their first win of the season.

Cologne played well last time out in only going down 1-2 at home to champions Bayern Munich, but it’s now two draws and four defeats in six for Markus Gisdol’s side, who have drawn two and lost five of their last seven league matches on the road stretching back to 2019/20.

Current form and Bremen’s head to head advantage means we’re predicting a 2-1 correct score for the host’s this Friday, but our main interest is in both teams hitting the net.

That’s been the case in all but two of the sides’ 12 combined outings this term, so we can be pretty confident the theme will continue in a game which both teams will feel they can win.
