West Brom vs Sunderland Predictions
West Brom suffered a Premier League setback last weekend after crashing out of the FA Cup to Derby the weekend before. The in form Tottenham hosted them and romped to a 4-0 victory, resigning West Brom to their biggest defeat since Manchester City inflicted the same misery on them in October.
This leaves The Baggies record at six wins, one draw, and four defeats in their last 11 outings in the Premier League. This is a fairly respectable return of points, and it’s made even more impressive by the fact that all of their defeats came against top six sides, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Spurs all beating them.
At home it looks even more impressive for West Brom. They have won four and lost one of their last five games, scoring a total of 13 goals and conceding five in an uncharacteristically entertaining spell of form. They do seem to have turned a corner this season thanks to the excellent form of Nacer Chadli, Salomon Rondon, and Matt Phillips.
These three have 15 league goals between them, but with Rondon having seven to his name and bagging five of them at The Hawthorns he looks the most likely to find the net on Saturday. Sunderland have conceded an average of two goals per game on the road this season too, so backing him to score anytime at 6/5 with Paddy Power looks a good choice for our goalscorer predictions.
Sunderland will have gone into last weekend’s clash with Stoke in a confident mood after their visitors poor run of form on the road, but a 3-1 defeat to The Potters piles misery upon misery for David Moyes. They have now lost five, drawn one, and won one of their last seven Premier League games.
Their streak without a win reached six in a row after a 2-0 defeat away at Burnley in the FA Cup on Tuesday. Despite rotating a few key players, Sunderland were clearly outclassed by the Clarets at Turf Moor.
Away from home it unsurprisingly gets even worse for them, with seven defeats in their last eight league matches and just four points from a possible 30 all season. They have conceded 12 goals in their last four away games and scored just twice.
Considering Sunderland’s disastrous away form, and the fact they had to play a midweek game, I think odds of 8/11 for West Brom to Win are incredibly good value for money, so I’m backing that along with a 3-1 correct score predictions at 16/1.
