Western Sydney Wanderers vs Adelaide United Predictions

Western Sydney Wanderers didn’t look like they would be challenging for the top spot when they opened the season with two defeats and a draw.

Fortunately for them, their form had a massive turnaround. They have won eight of their last nine Hyundai A-League matches and not lost since October.

This has taken them to the top of the A-League, with their 26 points from 12 matches putting them two points ahead of 2nd placed Brisbane Roar.

But Adelaide United have managed to put together a good run of form of their own. They failed to win any of their opening eight A-League matches but have since strung together a four match unbeaten streak in which they have won three times.

However, all of their wins have come on home turf, and away from home they have only managed to pick up one point from a possible 15.

This recent good form has taken them up to 7th in the A-League table though, and they come into this game just two points off the last of the playoff positions in the table.

It will be very difficult for Adelaide United to find their first away win of the season on Friday. The home side have won their last five home matches, conceding just two goals on the way and scoring nine times.

The only point Adelaide United have managed to pick up on the road has been against the struggling Newcastle Jets, and I’m not giving them much hope of taking any points against the in form league leaders Western Sydney Wanderers.

The odds on offer are attractive as well, with a straight Western Sydney Wanderers win coming in at excellent value odds of 4/5. I’m also going to back a 2-0 correct score prediction at 15/2 due to the home side’s excellent defence.
