Tip Reasoning

  • Manchester City have kept a clean sheet in six of their last nine Premier League games, winning to nil in five of those matches.
  • Only three teams have scored fewer Premier League goals than Wolves (35) this season.
  • Manchester City have scored at least three goals in each of their last four league fixtures.

Europa League hopes fading for Wolves

Wolves secured an unlikely point at Stamford Bridge on Saturday as two late goals cancelled out a quickfire Romelu Lukaku brace but, with games against Manchester City and Liverpool still to come, it is unlikely to be enough to bridge the gap between themselves and seventh-place West Ham.

Bruno Lage’s side have lost three of their last four games, failing to score in each of those defeats and now faced with the monumental task of stopping a Manchester City side putting all their efforts into securing the Premier League title.

City’s attention shifts to Premier League

Pep Guardiola’s team opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table in emphatic fashion on Sunday, thrashing Newcastle 5-0 as they start the healing process from yet another Champions League elimination.

City may have lost in Madrid, but in the Premier League they are unbeaten in nine games and have won seven of those, scoring 26 goals in the process and conceding just four times.

Goalshy Wolves to taste defeat again

This will come as bad news to a home side who have scored fewer goals (35) than all but three Premier League teams this season and I expect another comfortable win for the visitors on Wednesday.

Man City have kept six clean sheets in their last nine league matches and haven’t conceded away from home in the top flight since January, so Manchester City to win to nil is my main pick.

With the visitors scoring at last three goals in each of their last four league games, I’m also opting for a repeat of Wolves’ last home fixture in the form of a 3-0 correct score prediction.

Wolves predicted lineup: Sa; Boly, Coady, Saiss; Jonny, Dendoncker, Neves, Moutinho, Marcal; Hee-Chan, Jimenez

Manchester City predicted lineup: Ederson; Cancelo, Fernandinho, Laporte, Zinchenko; Rodri, Silva, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Sterling, Foden

  • Wolves have lost three of their last four Premier League games without scoring
  • Manchester City have been ahead at half-time in five of their last six Premier League matches
