In-form Wrexham can harness home advantage

Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham are starting to move up through the gears and their midweek win over Reading in the Carabao Cup was their fourth win in five games in all competitions.

A second-half double from Nathan Broadhead was enough to see off the Royals, in what was a significant result at the Racecourse Ground. Wrexham had been winless at home this season before Tuesday’s triumph and with the pressure lifted, they can perform in Wales again on Saturday.

Promoted Wrexham’s confidence has been building of late and their superb 3-2 win at Norwich in their last Championship assignment a week ago pushed them up into mid-table (16^th).

Derby meanwhile, are languishing in the drop zone after six games of the new campaign and though they eked out a surprise 1-0 win at WBA in their last away test, they returned to earth with a thump last weekend, losing by the same scoreline at home to Preston.

Struggling County have failed to win six of their eight games in league and cup since August overall and we recommend opposing them here, with an improving Wrexham the more attractive prospect, while a 2-1 home win is our correct score forecast.

Wrexham have scored at least twice in seven of their last eight fixtures and they should have the edge over a Derby attack that registered only once in four of their last five matches.
