Aston Villa and Both Teams To Score

      Reason for tip

Aston Villa’s Premier League class should tell but they have conceded in all four Premier League matches this season. Young Boys failed to score in only one of their six Champions League fixtures last term and are capable of grabbing a consolation strike.

      Aston Villa 3-1

      Reason for tip

Correct-score punters can plunge for a 3-1 Villa win, which was the scoreline when Manchester City travelled to Stadion Wankdorf last season. Goals look likely given both defences can be exposed.

Young Boys vs Aston Villa Predictions

      • Young Boys have failed to win any of their six domestic games this term
      • Villa have conceded in all four matches this season
      • Villa are without a clean sheet in 12 competitive outings

      Villa can make winning start

Some 42 years after being crowned European champions, Aston Villa return to the Champions League with a trip to Switzerland to take on Young Boys and they should be more than up to the challenge.

Villa finished fourth in the Premier League last season and they have taken nine points from their opening four games this term, suffering defeat only to Arsenal.

Unai Emery has added greater depth to his squad this season to cope with the Champions League challenge, so they should be able to recover from Saturday’s 3-2 win at home to Everton without too much fuss.

Young Boys are becoming Champions League regulars and their qualifying win over Galatasaray, which featured victories home and away, shows they have to be taken seriously.

Swiss side can make presence felt

However, they lost 3-1 at home to Leipzig and Manchester City in last season’s group stages and there is plenty of work to be done before they can be considered a threat.

Domestically, Young Boys are struggling and after six games they are bottom of their 12-team division, having drawn three and lost three of their fixtures.

The Swiss hosts have conceded 14 goals across those six league matches and those defensive frailties are sure to be exposed by a Villa side spearheaded by the prolific Ollie Watkins, who scored twice in Saturday’s victory over Everton.

That said, there may be a consolation goal in it for Young Boys, given Aston Villa are not always the most reliable defensively.

The Villans have conceded in all four Premier League matches this season and Young Boys failed to score in only one of their six Champions League fixtures last term.

The hosts scored at home to Manchester City, Leipzig and Red Star Belgrade and they can get on the scoresheet against Villa, who have conceded in their last 12 competitive matches.

Correct-score punters can plunge for a 3-1 Villa win, which was the scoreline when Manchester City travelled to Stadion Wankdorf last season.
