Zenit vs Gent Predictions
The opening round of the potentially wide open Champions League group H saw Zenit secure an impressive 3-2 away win against Valencia, while Gent and Lyon drew 1-1. Zenit will look to reinforce their position at the top of the table on Tuesday night when they play host to Gent.
History is certainly on Zenit’s side. At the best of times, the Russians have been strong at home in European competition and in five games against Belgian opponents, they have won all five with an aggregate score of 12-1. They demonstrated against Valencia that they are very capable of attacking effectively and that they are not afraid to give it a go. This is a quality side with depth and real pretensions in this competition. There’s a different feel about a team that looks like it plans to get into the knockout stages to do some damage, rather than seeing the knockout stage as a goal in itself.
Gent might just figure in the earlier of those categories. They earned a 1-1 draw against Lyon in their opening game, but there was little there to suggest that they have much attacking potency to be worried about, or that they are a genuine contender in a group that also includes Zenit and Valencia.
Three Reasons for Betting Tips
1. Zenit domination
Their history against Belgian opponents, their home record and the general performance of these two sides in this competition so far this season all appears to add up to a big win in this game for Zenit.
2. Making money on Zenit coupled with BTTS-No
The odds on a Zenit win are mediocre, but the money making opportunity on Zenit winning with Gent not scoring is significantly better. That makes it our best betting tip.
3. Unconvinced by Gent going forward
They don’t line up to go forward with numbers and they don’t have a whole to offer at this level when they do have the ball in an advanced position.
