Zenit vs Maccabi Tel Aviv Predictions

Zenit have enjoyed complete dominance over this Europa League group so far. Four games in and they have won all four of their games, leaving them top of the group with an eight point advantage over 2nd placed Dundalk. This means they can now relax as far as results are concerned, but they will want to keep the confidence high and maintain a perfect record in this group stage.

Domestically it’s also going fairly well. They currently sit 2nd in the Russian Premier League with 28 points from their 13 games so far, just three fewer than Spartak Moscow above them.

Last time out Zenit beat Krylya Sovetov 3-1 at home to make it eight wins and two defeats from their last ten matches in all competitions. Both of these defeats came away from home, and in St Petersburg they have won nine and drawn two of their 11 competitive games, including winning each of their last eight.

Attacking midfielder Guiliano has been the main threat for them, notching five in the Europa League and another six in the Premier League to make him the top scorer for Zenit. Eight of these 11 goals have come at home as well, so he’s the obvious choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.

Maccabi Tel Aviv managed to get back to winning ways on Sunday as they beat Ironi Kiryat 2-1 away from home, but this only makes it two wins from their last six games in all competitions. They have also lost to the plucky Dundalk away from home already in this group and lost a seven goal thriller at home to Zenit back in September.

Zenit may be coasting at the moment and could rest a few players ahead of their clash with Krasnodar on Sunday, but they still have the quality to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv. They will be keen to maintain a perfect record throughout the group stage as well, so backing them to get yet another win at 8/11 looks a very good choice. I’m going for a 2-1 correct score prediction at 7/1 as well.
