Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in 17 of Barcelona’s 25 La Liga games this season and over 2.5 goals have been scored 16 times. As far as Getafe go, both teams have scored in nine of their 13 away games to date with at least three goals in eight of them.

Barcelona 2-1

Reason for tip

Barcelona have won 9 of their 13 home La Liga fixtures and should have enough quality to overcome a dangerous Getafe side that scored two in Bilbao and three away to Atletico Madrid earlier this season. A 2-1 win is taken as the most likely outcome, but goals look guaranteed in Barca games at the moment and there could be more.

Barca have yet to fix leaky defence

Barcelona can give their flagging title hopes a boost with a win over Getafe on Saturday, although it is not likely to be a comfortable afternoon for the Blaugrana.

Xavi’s side have been too open for their own good at home of late, conceding four in a defeat to Girona before Christmas, five to Villarreal last month and three in a recent draw with Granada.

The coach’s use of Andreas Christensen in midfield sums up his desperation to fix an issue which has seen Barca cough up too many points to be considered serious contenders for La Liga again this season.

Getafe have given a good account in some tough places

And Getafe are the sort of side that can give bigger teams a few problems. They drew 3-3 at Atletico Madrid in December and 2-2 against Athletic Club at San Mames – still one of the toughest away grounds – back in September.

Jose Bordalas’s team will arrive at the Olympic Stadium off the back of a 1-1 draw with Villarreal, which made it five points from their three league games since a 2-0 home defeat to Real Madrid at the start of the month.

They are capable of scoring to give Barca an almighty scare, but the home side have enough quality to edge a 2-1 win with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals a much safer play than backing the hosts.
