Chelsea vs Manchester City Predictions
- Man City have reached the last three FA Cup finals and lost the last two
- City are unbeaten in nine across all comps, with eight wins
- Chelsea have four defeats in their last six games
City bidding to avoid unwanted treble
Manchester City will contest the FA Cup final for the fourth year in a row on Saturday as they face Chelsea at Wembley.
City have lost the last two finals and will be desperate to avoid a third consecutive defeat in the final of the world’s oldest cup competition. Only one team has lost three successive FA Cup finals before and that happens to be Chelsea, losing in 2020, 2021 and 2022 – and this is their first appearance in the showpiece since.
In any case, the pressure is on both sides here as City look to keep their domestic treble hopes alive and Chelsea bid to salvage what has been a disappointing season.
City the form team
City have already triumphed once at Wembley this season as they overcame Arsenal in the EFL Cup final and they look well placed to secure a cup double on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola’s side overcame Crystal Palace 3-0 on Wednesday to extend their unbeaten streak to nine games across all competitions, with eight wins, and they face a Chelsea side who are bang out of form.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have four defeats and just one win in their last six games and they have a terrible record against their opponents, with no wins and 10 defeats in the last 13 meetings.
Chelsea can get on the scoresheet
A City win is expected and a 3-1 win for the seven-time winners is the correct score pick. Chelsea have scored in all three of their games under Calum McFarlane since Liam Rosenior’s dismissal, striking exactly once in each game. City have scored three goals in each of their last three games, and they won 3-0 at Stamford Bridge when these sides met in the league last month.
Erling Haaland was given the evening off against Palace so he should come into the final fresh. The Norwegian is the obvious choice for an anytime effort as he has scored in each of his last four starts and hit a hat-trick against Liverpool in the quarter-finals of this competition.
