Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Predictions

• Over 3.5 goals has landed in four of Man City’s last seven games.
• There have been at least four goals scored in two of the last three h2h meetings.
• Phil Foden scored a hat-trick against Aston Villa in midweek.

Go for goals in the early kick off

Newcastle and West Ham served up a seven-goal thriller in last Saturday’s early kick off. We may not see quite as much action when Crystal Palace host Manchester City this weekend, but backing over 3.5 goals still looks like a reasonable starting point here.

Palace have been a bit of a bogey team for the defending Premier League champions in recent years and City have won just two of the last five meetings, indeed the reverse fixture finished 2-2 earlier in the season.

For that reason, the short prices available for a City win at Selhurst Park have little appeal here which is why I’ve focused on the goal markets.

No Haaland no problem for City

Erling Haaland remained on the bench for City in their midweek 4-1 win over Aston Villa, following a bit of criticism for his performance against Arsenal. He should come back into the side here but with a Champions League clash with Real Madrid to come next week the Norwegian could play a limited role again – but there are still plenty of goals in this City side.

Over 3.5 goals has been a winning bet in four of City’s last seven overall and in four of their last seven away across all competitions. Palace may be able to add to the goals total as well here as they have scored two goals in three of their last five against the visitors and they have scored in each of their last seven home games in the Premier League, including in defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea.

City can avoid Palace upset

The Eagles have caused a few problems for Pep Guardiola’s men in recent years but the visitors look to have rediscovered their form after a comprehensive win over top four rivals Villa in midweek.

With Liverpool and Arsenal ahead of them, only wins will do for City as they chase a fourth successive league title and they should be able to avoid any slip-ups against Palace, who have managed just one win in their last eight games.

City have scored at least three goals in four of their last five victories across all competitions and a 3-1 win for the visitors looks a reasonable correct score prediction, as Palace have scored in seven consecutive home league games.

After his hat-trick against Villa, Phil Foden appeals as a potential anytime scorer. The England international has been in fine form for some time now and will be the focal point of the City attack on Saturday if Haaland is used sparingly.
