Swansea City vs Chelsea Predictions

Swansea looked dead and buried just a few months ago, but Carlos Carvalhal is on the verge of orchestrating a great escape for the side from south Wales. They come into the final four games of the season in 17th position, four points above the drop zone and with a desperately out of form Stoke and Southampton below them.

Last time out they were well and truly battered by the newly crowned Premier League champions, and whilst they are now winless in five Premier League matches, they haven’t been playing as badly as that would suggest.

For one, they have only lost two of these games. In fact, they have only lost three of their last 12 Premier League matches, and all three of those came away from home. At home they are unbeaten since their first game of 2018, winning four of their five league matches since then. These victories haven’t been against lowly clubs either, with both Liverpool and Arsenal falling victim to the resurgent Swans.

Chelsea’s Premier League season isn’t quite over yet either. They occupy a disappointing 5th position, but they are only five points off a crucial top four spot now and have 12 points left to play for. Their confidence will have been boosted by their FA Cup semi final triumph last weekend too, and after three straight wins in all competitions the talk of Antonio Conte having lost the dressing room has died down somewhat.

The Blues Premier League away form is a cause for concern though. They have won just four of their last 11 trips away in the league and have lost three of their last five. This is largely down to a back line that has let in ten goals in these five games, and they haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home in the league since January.

Meanwhile, Swansea have found the net in each of their last five home games, but Chelsea have failed to score in just one of their last seven on the road and that was against Manchester City. This makes a Both Teams to Score bet look the best on offer, but we also think Swansea are being underestimated, considering their recent home form. This makes a Swansea Win and Both Teams to Score look another good option, so we’re backing that too along with a 2-1 correct score predictions.
